Come learn about Maine’s Dyslexia Law and other recent education related laws enacted in the past few years. Our speaker, Senator Millett, will share her insights on these new education laws as well as her lead in drinking water bill that will be carried over into the 2018 legislative session. Food and dessert provided.

About our speaker:
Sen. Rebecca Millett is serving her third term in the Maine Senate, representing South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and part of Scarborough. She serves on the state’s Education and Cultural Affairs committee. She is a founding co-chair of the Maine legislative Children's Caucus and serves on the Maine Children's Growth Council. Sen. Millett is the Chair of the New England Board of Higher Education Legislative Advisory Committee.
Sen. Millett grew up in Maine and attended Portland public schools. After graduating college, serving in the Peace Corps, and working in finance in New York, Sen. Millett moved home to Maine in 2000. Upon returning to Maine, she served on the Cape Elizabeth School Board from 2004 to 2010, and co-founded a citizens’ advocacy group to support advancements in local education.
She lives in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and with her children attending college as freshmen. She loves hiking and backpacking and studies piano.
